SECURITY MANAGEMENT WORKSHOP

Management Options for Today’s Security Managers’

This year’s NEbraskaCERT conference offers an optional 1/2 day Workshop  August 21, 2008 1:00 to 5:00 p.m.
presented by AITP Omaha and INFOTEC 2009 in association with NEbraskaCERT

For Security Manager’s who value an update on the latest options for management of their technical infrastructure and personnel resources

Following AITP's highly successful INFOTEC model for providing a forum for our professionals to share their experience and keys to success, the following workshop is being offered. Management professionals have a continuing need to effectively and efficiently manage the new threats to their information resources. This requires balancing options for technical, infrastructure and personnel solutions. Please join us in this unique opportunity to keep our resources secure.
  • Jeff Gullifoyle, Symantec, will present ‘Options for managing the changing technology risks’. He will identify our choices for tracking and assessing the current threats. After reviewing options to respond and to determine the ‘right’ course of action. Of particular interet is how to evaluate the new alternatives for virtualization, Web 2.0 and the Internet service ‘cloud’,
  • Kevin Dohrmann and David McKinney, CoSentry, will discuss ‘Options for infrastructure protection’. Real world experiences in securing infrastructure from exploits and hackers.  CoSentry has been in the business of business resiliency, data center and web hosting for over 7 years.   We will be discussing the best options and strategy’s to protect organizations from unwanted intrusion and theft of corporate data as well as personal data.   This will include information about Firewalls, Intrusion Protection and Detection, patching critical infrastructure software, etc.”
  • Lori Snyder will define our options on How to address a Security Culture in Your Organization and Build a Security Learning Environment;’ Security is an investment in your company. Good companies who want to protect their futures know this and take action. Getting that understanding and buy in can be difficult. Spreading the knowledge to each employee and ensuring they make security a part of their daily job can seem to be an unreasonable achievement to expect. This session will cover how to get that buy in, spread that awareness and get employees to incorporate security minded thinking in their daily jobs. We will provide specific action items to achieve these results incorporating examples in local companies in Omaha in the healthcare and manufacturing industries. Lori Snyder is a technology Executive with over 20 years of experience. She has led teams and supported technology projects for STRATCOM, the Pentagon, and across diverse industries including financial, insurance and manufacturing. She has broad working knowledge in the security and compliance areas with government compliance, HIPAA, SOX, PCI and ISO 177995 supporting e-commerce, healthcare, and financial transactions over the internet
